Coupon Book

Did anyone else get this coupon book. There are some great coupons in it.

Books-A-Million

Last night Bo and I went to Books-A-Million after dinner mostly to walk around and to see if they had a book I was looking for. While we were there I spotted their Christmas clearance. I purchased all of this stuff for $11.00 with tax. The gingerbread man is called a Puzz Pal. It's like a stuffed animal that is also a puzzle. I just loved the Moose and he was only a dollar so I had to get him. The UNO game was $3.00 and it is Disney which makes it even cooler. There calendars were on sale for $3.00, but they didn't have much left to choose from so I picked the Hello Kitty one. Who doesn't love Hello Kitty. The Ty Beanie Babies will be part of the shoe box gifts we put together.

Thursday Night Shopping

Tonight Bo I did our normal Friday night shopping on Thursday this week.

We went to Target because I have heard that they were having a good toy clearance sale. Well, all I came out of Target with is this puzzle. It was a $1.48. Normally it would have been $4.99. My aunt loves puzzles, and this one is going to go to her.

I had a $10.00 register reward from the other night, and we needed to get some birthday cards for Bo's twin cousins. I just love reading cards. It took us a while to find perfect ones for them. I also had to get two of these $1.00 flashlights and $0.75 sunglasses. My total out of pocket was $1.48.

We also went to TJ Maxx to take park of there 15% off sale. I had to pick up a pair of Spanx tights and two over the door organizers. I hope they help with keeping the bathroom clean.

Tonight Shopping

Bo had a meeting at church tonight. After his meeting we drove about 20 minuets away to the K-Mart. This is what I got with the Super Doubles. I didn't do all that great, but I didn't do that badly either. Before coupons my total was $70.80. After coupons my total came to $32.99. Not the best deals, but I'll take it.

While Bo was in his meeting I ran Walgreens. I got these two items they reached the $20.00 required to get my $10.00 in register rewards. I hate the thermometer that we have now so I was more than willing to buy a new one, and Bo likes to take DayQuil when he has a cold. So these will be going in our medicine cabinet.
With both of these purchases I have reached my $50.00 in P&G Brands offer. So now I'm going to send off for my $120.00 in coupons. Can't wait to get them.

I've been sick

I have had an upper respiratory infection that turned into Bronchitis so needless to say I haven't gotten any good deals. I hope to get back into the swing of things tomorrow.

I did want to share with you a few things that happened before I got sick.

Sorry that the picture below isn't the best. But I wanted to share the story about this navy blue blazer with you. When Bo and I went to New Orleans I mentioned to Bo that we needed to look for a good deal on a navy blazer when we got home. Well when we got home and went back to work my co-worker came into the office caring this brand new jacket with the tags still on it. I asked her what it was for and she told me that she wanted to know what size Bo wore. She told me that a friend of hers was cleaning out her fathers closet after he had died. She found this jacket and wanted to find someone who could use it. This jacket fit Bo perfect accept it was a little long in the sleeves and a little big in the stomach. We took and had it taken in. So for $25.00 Bo has a new jacket. Isn't that great. Thanks for thinking of us Lindy.

I picked up these stockings at Hobby Lobby when they had there 90% off sale. I got these 5 stockings came $4.80. I am going to take to work to decorate with next year.

Weekly CVS Dollars

Yes this pile of wet paper is my CVS coupons and dollars that I earned this week. My $16.00 worth of ECB. Bo separated and started the laundry tonight. We had several loads to do, but of course he picked the one with my pants that had my ECB in them. Bo just laughed when we found this. This coming from a man who washes his wallet at least 4 times a year. I guess I'll have to start over earning more bucks.

Weekly Trip

Here is what I purchased this weekend:

I went to Publix for the basics. The best deals there were the Publix saltines, the penny item, and the Wall-E cup and plate both were $o.50 a piece. As of right now I'm going to give them to my nephew for his birthday. My total was $30.68. Store coupons $2.42. Vendor coupons $3.50. Advertised Special Savings $14.07. Advantage Buy Savings $0.07. In-Store Special Savings $6.28.

We also went to Bruno's that had special coupons in the paper this week. The Bryan Cocktail Sausages were on sale for $1.99 and the Fresh Express was $1.39. Couldn't beat those prices.

This weekend I traveled to visit my family. While I was there I went to CVS to get a few deals. Their CVS had a lot of Christmas items left and it was 90% off. I picked up a few more Christmas balls for my work Christmas tree. I spent a little over $11.00, but a lady at work will pay me for the SoyJoy bars. After I receive her reimburstment I will be under my $5.00 mark.

I wanted to share with you a cute little dish that my aunt gave me this weekend. She also gave me a bag of what are in my opinion the best potato chips. Hartley Potato Chips Bar B Q chips are just wonderful. As you can see Bo and I opened the bag and dived in and started to eat them as soon as we got them.

CVS Again This Week

I was reading I'm A Money Magnet and she gave me a the idea to look for Febreze candles on sale at CVS. Well mine weren't $1.99, but they were on sale for $0.79. I asked the guy if they would take the $2.00 coupon. I was hoping that they would round it down to $.079. He wouldn't even try.
The Johnson's shampoo was on sale for $2.99 with a $1.00 coupon on it and the $1.50 coupon CVS sent me. Making it $0.49.
The Christmas paper was $0.29 a roll. Can't beat that.
The Centrum is actually what I went to CVS for. It was on sale from $9.99 to $6.99 with a $3.00 off coupon.
My total came to $8.02 less than what the coupons are at regular price.

New Years Weekend Savings

Okay my weekly goal is not to spend more than $60.00 OOP. So this what a I purchased.

I went to three different grocery stores not including CVS.

This is what I got at Publix. I ended up spending $28.38. I had $2.70 in vendor coupons, $8.78 in store coupons, $20.66 in advertised special savings, and $o.39 in-store special savings. My total savings was $32.53.

At Bruno's I only wanted to pick up some meat that was on sale. I spent a total of $11.25 there with a total savings of $2.88.

At Winn-Dixie I had $30.00 in gift cards so I didn't count towards my OOP expenses. Not counting my gift card I spent a total of $9.84.
My total spent at the grocery store was $49.28.
I also wanted to share a picture of Bo and I on our trip this past weekend. My husband and I had a lovely dinner at Brennan's on New Years. Bo's cousin made the reservations and we joined him and his wife for dinner. It was a great weekend and the first time I have been to New Orleans since Katrina. Bo and I actually went to New Orleans two months before Katrina. It still isn't completely back, and you can still see destruction from the hurricanes including Katrina and the ones following it.

Happy New Year

I hope everyone has a good holiday. January 1st is always so freeing to me because it is like I can start all over. This year my husband, Bo, and I will be celebrating in New Orleans. Bo is a big Alabama fan so we are going to the Sugar Bowl. I would like to say that we are cheap in our everyday lives so that we can afford to take nice getaways. We view this as our trade off.

To help hold myself more accountable. I decided to post my money new year's resolutions. Here they go:

  1. Spend no more than $5.00 OOP at CVS each week. This may mean that I don't get all of the deals. But I can live with that...I think.
  2. Try to only spend $60.00 a week at the grocery store. I know that many of you do better than this and I'm trying to get there. I'm just not there yet.
  3. Use as many coupons as possible.
  4. Track all savings and spending.
  5. Create a monthly menu and post it.
  6. Learn new ways to save.

Again Happy New Year.
